Hinge: How to use the hidden Fresh Start reset to refresh your account

Hinge users who feel like their Discover feed has gone stale can use a built-in reset called Fresh Start, according to a Mashable article by Chance Townsend. The feature offers a way to refresh the app without fully deleting your profile or losing current matches.

What Fresh Start does

Fresh Start essentially reboots your Hinge experience so your Discover page resembles those early days when the queue felt new. As Mashable explains, the tool is intended for users who are dissatisfied with how their feed is behaving or who feel like they’re no longer seeing the kinds of profiles they want to.

How to activate Fresh Start

To trigger the reset, go to Settings > Delete Account and when asked why you’re leaving, choose the option “I wasn’t satisfied with my Hinge experience.” A pop-up will then offer the Fresh Start option — accept it to refresh your Discover feed.

Important notes and limitations

Fresh Start is a full reset in certain respects. While you will retain your current matches, you will lose pending likes that are in your queue. That also includes profiles you previously swiped left on and, as Mashable notes, “any cuties stuck in Rose Jail” — a reference explored in a related Mashable story about a viral Hinge workaround (read more).

The option is not unlimited: it appears to be available only once every two to three weeks, and it won’t work if your profile is currently paused.

For completeness, the original page also includes links to Hinge and related offers; these appear under a “You May Also Like” section and point to external offers for AdultFriendFinder, Tinder, and Hinge:

  • AdultFriendFinder — readers’ pick for casual connections
  • Tinder — top pick for finding hookups
  • Hinge — popular choice for regular meetups

If you’re feeling app burnout, Fresh Start can be a useful, lower-friction alternative to deleting your entire Hinge profile — just be mindful of what it removes from your queue before you accept the reset.
